With Wuhan as the center, Xiaogan in the north has daily paper products such as "Xinxiangyin", "Vinda", "Qingfeng" and "Jierou"; Jingzhou in the west has investment from large industrial paper companies such as Nine Dragons Paper (the number one enterprise in domestic paper volume) and Xianhe Paper; Huanggang in the east focuses on office paper. Is Hubei the future cosmic center of China's paper industry?


Paper making is a typical three-high enterprise. In the 1990s, there were more than 1,000 paper mills in Shandong Province, but under the influence of environmental protection policies, there are only about 300 now. The rest of the enterprises either go to the technology route, or are imported raw materials from abroad, more enterprises choose to invest in the central and western regions.
 
Paper enterprises need to meet three conditions: more water, enough material, wide transportation. These three conditions are basically met in Hubei.
 
First of all, there is a lot of water. As the source of the south-to-north Water Diversion project, Hubei is naturally not short of water. In addition, the Three Gorges Dam, which can regulate water resources, provides a source of life for the paper industry.
 
Secondly, the material is sufficient. There are a large number of tidal flats in Hubei Province, which are suitable for planting reeds needed for paper making, and the reed pulp rate is also high, which is very suitable for paper making.
 
Finally, transportation. As a thoroughfare of nine provinces, Hubei has developed railway and waterway transportation and low logistics costs.
 
Therefore, the first station of paper industry migration is hubei. Wuzhou special paper, Nine Dragons, Chenming paper industry, Xianhe shares, in the shun Jierou have begun to layout in Hubei. Within 4 years, four paper giants have settled in Jingzhou
 
In recent years, Hubei province has seized the opportunity of paper industry restructuring, promoted the industrial layout of high-quality enterprises with its own advantages, and promoted the development of paper industry with higher environmental protection standards.
 
According to the statistics of Hubei Paper Association, since 2017, the output of main products in Hubei paper industry has maintained rapid growth and development trend. By 2020, there are 28 major paper enterprises in Hubei province, and the annual production of paper and cardboard products is 6.2206 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 19.1%.

As of Last November, from the main product output structure, hubei paper industry main products are still corrugated base paper. In 2020, the output of corrugated base paper in Hubei was 2,817,700 tons, accounting for 45.30% of the total output of paper and paperboard in the province. It is the only subdivision variety with output exceeding one million tons at present.


The output of cardboard and white paper was 721,000 tons and 671,000 tons respectively, accounting for 11.59% and 10.79% of the total output of the province. The output of other types of products accounted for less than 10%.
